A science-based curriculum to assist youth in assuming responsibility for their actions and the possible consequences of those actions, by helping them develop life, family planning and social skills. Open to teens from ages 15 to 18 years old that are at risk for teen pregnancy, dropping out of school, substance abuse, or juvenile delinquency.

Intensive case management services focusing on school completion and/or GED, Adult Basic Education and Literacy, ESL, Life Skills Training and Parent Education. Available to pregnant and parenting teens who are 20 years old or younger. Case managers will assist participants in applying for child care services, Food Stamps, Rite Care, and transportation and employment assistance.

Parenting Wisely is designed to help teens and their families to increase communication; decrease family conflict; increase parental supervision; improve discipline and parenting techniques; and reduce or prevent juvenile delinquency, substance abuse; school failure; violent behaviors, and teen pregnancy. Youth and families are referred through Juvenile Hearing Boards in South Kingstown, North Kingstown, Chariho and Westerly.

Provides comprehensive assessments, parent education, and case management services for families with children between the ages of 9 and 17 to address issues which are affecting the youth and family’s emotional, physical, psychological and social well-being. Referrals are accepted from Family Court, Juvenile Hearing Boards, Police Departments, DCYF, schools and through self-referral.

A six to eight week program operated between June and August for youth ages 14 -24. The program provides youth with work experience opportunities in local businesses, public facilities and non-profit agencies. Work experiences provide youth with hands-on opportunities to develop the skills they will need upon entering the work force. Youth receive a stipend or wage and are required to attain certain benchmarks relative to their job performance. Youth also participate in a variety of career and personal development activities such as community service projects, field trips to local business and civic events, exposure to post secondary education and training opportunities, and guest speakers from key RI industries.

Case workers attend Truancy Court in Chariho, Exeter/West Greenwich, South Kingstown, North Kingstown and Narragansett School Districts with the purpose of case managing students and their families and making referrals as deemed appropriate by the courts.
